Iran is the neighbor of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the North, Afghanistan and Pakistan in the East, Persian Gulf and Oman Sea in the South and Iraq turkey in the west the border of Iran is 5170 KM and its water border is 2510 KM.

Iran has a dry climate. The annual average rainfall in Iran is 275mms and it average temperature is 25C. From the total land area of Iran 180200 sq .km is forested. And the huge peak of Iran is Damavand in Alborz Mountains with 5671 m.

The population of Iran is approximately 65 millions out of which 98% are Moslems and the remaining 2% are Christian, Jewish and Zorro a strain.

Iran’s former name – Persia till 1935 - derives from the historical province of the province called Fars or pars, at a teem when the Greeks – who called it persist – attempted to conquer the country.

Practically speaking only the English talk about Persia. It is like them to do so, for in reality "Persia" is to “Iran" what England is to the United Kingdom.

And that is not the main connection between European civilization and Iran, for the word Iran is etymologically akin to the word Aryan, and throughout history has been intermittently applied to the peoples of Indo-European, that is, Aryan origin occupying the plateau, and to the plateau itself.
